With fuel typically costing between £25,000 and £40,000 a year per HGV, representing 25% to 35% of running costs, it is imperative to manage fuel cost. Good driving can save £8,000 of fuel per annum when compared to bad driving. By giving instant visibility of driving style and fuel consumption operators can spot money wasting drivers and advise them how they can reduce waste. Reducing fuel consumption has the additional benefit of reducing emissions, helping organisations to reach emission reduction targets.
Isotrak systems are able to analyse millions of pieces of data from the vehicle engine management system through a standard CANbus FMS interface. The analysis is displayed in a simple to read colour coded chart showing where driving performance is leading to fuel waste. Reports summarise individual driver performance in league tables to give managers all the tools required to achieve cost reduction targets. These levels of simplicity mean that savings can be made from day one.
Each vehicle type and model has its own characteristics that determine fuel consumption. The Isotrak Driving Style module enables individual profiles to be created against which performance is assessed and rated. This puts engineers and trainers in control of driving standards in a structured and organised manner.

By using simple colour coding that is configured by the engineering team or a skilled operator, debrief clerks and managers can see at a glance how drivers perform.
Consistent with all other parts of Isotrak systems, management reporting is simple to access. Reports on driving style and league tables can be scheduled for automated transmission by email, thereby eliminating the need for managers to enter the Isotrak system to see vital management information.
With so many aspects to running a successful transport operation all happening at once, its no-wonder operators lose track of individual situations such as, how long a particular vehicle has been at a loading dock or when time-critical loads left the depot. This reactive ‘fire fighting’ reduces not only how well you can utilise your fleet but constantly undermines the level of service you are able to provide your customers and costs you money.
Isotrak’s ATMS Versatile Intelligent Alerting (VIA) module monitors every aspect of your operation against pre-set parameters so that you don’t have to. The benefits in turning your transport office from a reactive fire fighting operation that constantly struggles to stay on top of ever-changing circumstances to a transport operation that proactively manages situations before they become critical or worse still, grind everything to a halt, are enormous.
Isotrak’s ATMS VIA module includes operational performance related alerts such as overdue depot departure, or wrong job allocated and also emergency alerts that are triggered typically by the driver using the dashboard mounted panic button or the remote key fob.
Unlike other vendors, the Isotrak ATMS VIA is fully user configurable and is able to not only set alerts for specific information or concerning only resource’s of certain type but it also has the capability to alert users via a range of channels such as email, pager, SMS or on screen. These channels can be fully modified by the user so that at certain times of day particular channels are used.
As is common across Isotrak’s ATMS, reports are illustrated using the RAG display. This allows for ‘at a glance’ current status of all alerts. All alerts are listed on the Alert Management Screen by type but this can be configured to display alerts by ‘new’ ‘open’ or awaiting acknowledgment’ etc.
If an emergency alert is raised then an Emergency Screen will appear on Alert Management. This screen will flash, lock and sound a warning on the Alert Management Screen. For effective alert management an operator in the transport office should be nominated to watch for, respond to and take ownership of alerts. Other alerts do not lock the system but appear listed on the Alert Management screen.
Ownership of alerts is essential in order to fully resolve the issue. Should an alert not be taken ownership of then the system will automatically escalate the importance of that alert until it has been owned. One owned all actions need to be added to the system for the day book updates, this will allow the next shift to easily pick up the progress of any alert not fully resolved.
