Manage your own fleet and those who work on your behalf

For over a decade transport and logistics experts have been using technology to gain real-time visibility of their fleet and thus optimize their routing and scheduling, cut fuel and CO2 emissions and provide excellent customer service. There are further big wins to make in supply chain management in an area which has hardly been explored, not from fine-tuning
the performance of your own fleet, but through collaboration and co-ordination.

What can the real-time visibility of 3iS FleetVision do for you?

Reduce turnaround time and gain ETA/ETD real-time visibility.
With real-time visibility of arrival and departure times, not only can you keep an eye on where goods are, but automatic alerts to depot or store warn when a vehicle crosses a pre-set boundary.

Staff are ready and waiting, which allows more efficient unloading and loading. Goods reach the shelf faster, and delivery vehicles are back on the road to complete their plan. Just 15 minutes saved on turnaround time can add an extra drop to the driver’s day – enormously increasing efficiency for both haulier and customer.

Manage third parties/ trouble-free outsourcing
Many retailers, grocers and manufacturers outsource part of their transport operation for
cost reasons. Staying in control of this vital element of your business remains a priority,
especially because of the impact delivery has on warehouse, depot, stock and customer satisfaction.

With 3iS FleetVision, there’s no need to compromise – all the economic benefits of outsourcing are possible, plus you can set and measure the KPIs, just as you would with your own fleet.

Enhancing current capabilities into new business opportunities

  • Developed to work using most GPS feeds, 3iS FleetVision builds on and protects investments that you and your partners have already made
  • The ideal integration solution, 3iS FleetVision will run c.80% of legacy telematics hardware and software through a single dashboard (whether in a single fleet or across several)
  • 3iS FleetVision even presents the possibility of collaborating with your competitors. Two companies can share loads via a third party with significant cost-savings for both. It enables a whole new way of doing business.

The competitive advantage every logistics company wants

Reducing empty-running, cutting excess mileage, back-hauling, shared loads – all these opportunities become realities with 3iS FleetVision.
The result is an unsurpassed ability to cut costs and pass value on to the customer, which is a platinum-plated competitive advantage in the current 3PL and haulier market. Customers appreciate the visibility given by 3iS FleetVision – both for financial transparency, and because it improves customer service and cuts down on inventory issues. Using 3iS FleetVision is a clear sign of commitment to customers – and a capability that more and more are likely to ask for.

How 3iS FleetVision can help a fleet operator

Third Party logistics and supplier fleet deliveries are just as time-critical to a business as the operations of its own fleet. With 3iS FleetVision, it becomes simple to manage each element in the supply chain as a single entity, allowing continual improvements in fleet utilisation. The benefits are the same whether the manager is the business itself, or a logistics company looking to provide the best possible value to its customers.

Fig 1: In this example, a drinks manufacturer uses 3iS FleetVision to drive the efficiency of their 3PL through a close partnership with their customer (a supermarket) and one of their suppliers (a bottle manufacturer).

The crates of drink are delivered to the supermarket distribution centre. 3iS FleetVision comes into its own as it ensures the return leg from the supermarket distribution centre is not wasted – incorporating a shop delivery and a pickup from a bottle manufacturer both en route back to the drink manufacturer’s warehouse. The diagram also shows an important feature of 3iS FleetVision – the visibility of each leg can be controlled. Thus the supermarket distribution centre, shop and bottle supplier see only the journeys which affect them, only the drinks manufacturer and 3PL have full visibility of the entire trip. In theory it would be possible for the drinks manufacturer to make arrangements with several different supermarkets – and still maintain complete confidentiality.

Transparency & Cost-reduction
Because it’s easy to measure and then improve empty-running, fuel-efficiency, CO2 emissions and delays, the partnerships created by 3iS FleetVision become deeper and more fruitful for all parties. Problems can be addressed straight away, and companies can be certain their suppliers and outsourced third parties are providing the best value.

With such rich data available, fully-informed business decisions can be made on whether to reduce or expand the proprietary fleet. Instead of being a gamble, outsourcing becomes an extremely clear decision. A series of breakdowns, strike actions – any problem in the own-fleet that can be imagined – with 3iS FleetVision, it’s simple to switch loads to a third party partner.

How 3iS FleetVision can help manage a complex supply chain

Fig 2: An integration dream All too often the huge benefits of integrating processes are undermined by the difficulty of technical or IT integration. 3iS FleetVision comprises a series of interlinked software
modules that can interface with almost all proprietary transport management systems, but which builds in particular on the success of Isotrak ATMS.
Jobs and resources from any fleet are integrated in a single, member-specific list — which can be viewed, managed and monitored by your transport management system — as if all of the vehicles were part of your own fleet. Plus, business-rule-based information on planning and resources is collated and delivered in the form of job and vehicle visibility, KPI reports and ETA in real time.
